A lot such things are done on Dusshera which shouldn’t be done as they are incorrect rather useless too…   For example first let us consider distributing Apta leaves  (Bauhinia racemosa) as gold on Dusshera, may it be a long tradition now needs to be corrected. On one hand we give messages to save environment & on the contrary pluck the Apta leaves unnecessarily... But now the number of apta trees has come down drastically and there is a need to save these trees. The apta tree has no fragrance and does not bear fruit. So very few people plant it.
