Environment destruction or an ages old tradition ??

A lot such things are done on Dusshera which shouldn’t be done as they are incorrect rather useless too…

For example first let us consider distributing Apta leaves  (Bauhinia racemosa) as gold on Dusshera, may it be a long tradition now needs to be corrected.

On one hand we give messages to save environment & on the contrary pluck the Apta leaves unnecessarily...

But now the number of apta trees has come down drastically and there is a need to save these trees.

The apta tree has no fragrance and does not bear fruit. So very few people plant it. As a result, the number of apta trees has decreased. Apta trees are found outside the village. The sellers bring in large quantities of apta leaves to sell on Dussehra in the market. Whereas, on the next day large quantity of dried apta leaves can be found thrown in the garbage. Therefore, offering apta leaves on Dussehra is merely destroying the environment.

Apta tree has scientific importance, the ability to absorb carbon dioxide emitted from vehicles and animals as well as atmospheric dust is high in Apta trees.

This Dusshera let us decide no more plucking of Bauhinia racemosa leaves.
