Sweden-based V-Dem Institute said India has become an "electoral autocracy".
They described India as a "flawed democracy", slipped two places to 53rd position in the latest Democracy Index published by The Economist Intelligence Unit.They say, there has been increased pressure on human rights groups, intimidation of journalists and activists, and a spate of attacks, especially against Muslims. This has led to a deterioration of political and civil liberties in the country.
According to the sources India now is as autocratic as Pakistan and worse than its neighbours Bangladesh and Nepal.
What happened to the dream of democracy envisaged by Jawaharlal Nehruji?
Has the country fulfilled his dream achievements?
Has India moved ahead on the path that he charted?
His that dream is now under threat…

Those bigots in position have twinned their attack on democracy.
Remembering the words of Nehruji ,' Desh tabhi taraki kar sakta hain, jab desh ki sarkar achi ho.’
And that’s exactly what’s not happening in our nation…
They say, “Desh vikas ki rah par chal rha hain…”
‘Vikas toh ho rha hain magar aakheer kiska?’
These merely are dangerous developments diluting civil liberties and democratic rights.
We are on the path of loosening our freedom since 2014...
